FAQ

  • Does Nolechek’s process whole, skin-on or skinned wild game?

    Unfortunately, we are unable to accept whole, skin-on or skinned wild game. All wild game must be boneless, clean, and fresh or fresh-frozen.

  • How should I package my boneless trim?

    Nolechek’s recommends FOOD-GRADE quart- or gallon-size zip lock bags that can be filled and laid flat. This ensures even and quick freezing to maintain the quality of your boneless wild game.

  • What if I have my boneless trim in garbage bags or pails?

    Nolechek’s will not accept wild game trim brought to us in dirty non-food grade bags or containers. PRODUCT IN NON-FOOD GRADE BAGS OR ANY KIND OF GARBAGE BAGS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

  • When does Nolechek’s accept boneless wild game?

    For your convenience, Nolechek’s accepts boneless wild game year-round.

  • What if I have pheasant, wild turkey, goose or other fowl?

    Unfortunately, we are unable to accept any type of fowl due to birdshot concerns.

  • Is there a certain time of year Nolechek’s accepts boneless wild game?

    For your convenience, Nolechek’s accepts boneless wild game year-round.

  • How much boneless venison do  I have to bring in for sausage products?

    We require 5# of boneless venison per product. We add an equal amount of pork, so the minimum finished weight per product is 10#. The price of pork is included in the listed price of each product.

  • How much boneless venison do  I have to bring in for snack sticks?

    We require 4# of boneless venison per variety of snack stick. We add an equal amount of pork, so you will start with 8#. There is a 30% loss due to the smoking process and the customer is billed on the finished weight. You will end up with a minimum of 5# per snack stick variety.

  • How much boneless venison do I have to bring in for jerky?

    We require 10# of boneless venison. We do not add pork to the jerky. There is a 50% loss due to the smoking process and the customer is billed on the finished weight. You will end up with a minimum of 5# of jerky.

  • How much boneless venison do I have to bring in for venison hamburger with 1/3 beef or pork added?

    We require at least 7# of boneless venison and will add 3# of beef or pork. You will end up with 10# finished weight.

  • Do you accept boneless elk?

    Yes. Boneless elk is treated the same way as boneless venison and requires the same minimums.

  • Can I have sausage made from boneless bear, mule deer, moose, or something other than venison or elk?

    Yes. The minimum requirement for each product made is 30#. The minimum amount of boneless wild game required depends on the type:
    • Bear – 20# of boneless bear needed and we add 10# of pork.
    • Mule deer & Moose – 15# of boneless mule deer or moose needed and we add 15# of pork.

  • Will you vacuum package my product?

    Yes. The cost of vacuum packaging is included in all fresh product pricing. Vacuum packaging is available for smoked product for an additional cost of $0.35/#.

  • Will you make a special batch  of product to meet specific tastes?

    Yes. Nolechek’s will do our best to accommodate special requests and 30# finished weight is the minimum amount required.

  • Will Nolechek’s add different amount of pork or use beef?

    Yes. We will gladly accommodate these requests and the 30# minimum finished weight is required for these special batches.

  • Does Nolechek’s require prepayment for wild game processing?

    We do not require prepayment for items found on our standard price list. However, we do require prepayment on the finished weight for all special batches. If there is a difference between the deposit and final bill, the amount will be adjusted accordingly at the time of pick-up.

    We are not responsible for unfrozen products that are not picked up within 14 days upon notification, unless prior arrangements have been made.

    Our Promise

    We inspect all wild game as it arrives and several times throughout production to ensure the highest quality finished product. Nolechek’s reserves the right to refuse any wild game that does not meet our standards.

    Nolechek’s Meats is a USDA Inspected and HACCP Certified meat processing facility. A Federal Inspector is on premise five days a week.
